My Sisters Keeper

The book My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Was truly a great book I really enjoyed it, it was one of the best books I have ever read. Its about a girl named Kate that was diagnosis Leukemia.  "Leukemia is cancer of the blood cells. It starts in the bone marrow, the soft tissue inside most bones. Bone marrow is where blood cells are made." This came fro the website WebMD there link is http://www.webmd.com/cancer/tc/leukemia-topic-overview . So if you wanted to know a little bit more about Leukemia. An understand what is going on with Kate a little bit more this will explain a lot about that cancer . Her sister Anna is doing every thing possible to help her sister Kate. There parents had Anna genetically engineer to help save her sister Kate she feels like that's one of the only reason she was on earth for so that's what's she is determined to do. But though the book she wants to become her own person. She has a brother but he was not a match for his sister Kate. They made this book into a movie it was so good and the movie is so good. Here is some pictures from the movie and the trailer.

Questions:
By Anna doing what Kate wanted did Anna do the right thing?
How would you feel with your parents had you to save your sister?
Should the ending be different?
Is the theme right vs. wrong?

How I Can Relate:
I can relate to this book because my Aunt Liz had Acute Leukemia. She had fought the battle for about 5 years. She died in her forty's that's pretty young. She did every thing she could do. They took my Aunt Bernice's  bone marrow and gave it to my Aunt Liz that is called a bone marrow transplant. She lived two years long because of having that bone marrow transplant. The Dr. suggested  Chemotherapy treatment so she did chemotherapy treatments. This all changed how she look. This is a very sad case its was hard on her. But just as hard on the family to see her going though her pain and suffering. When she died she left behind two sons, and a grandson, also very many people who loved her dearly. She was described as a loving, caring, outgoing, but to sum it up just a wonderful person.

Recommend:
I would recommend this book to someone who loves a great story. But I feel most girls would like the book better than the guys it is kind of  a chick-flick but overall I would recommend this book to just about anybody who loves a good read. This would be one of the books I would read again and again. And the movie is just as good so I would say the same about that.

  1. Was this story based on a true story? It sounds like this could happen to anyone at anytime.

    1. If my parents started telling me that I was only born to help my sick sister. I would feel entitled to help her but I would also feel the need for more attention. I would probaly go the way her brother did except not that extreme, I would try doing bad things to get their attention. At the same time I would always be there for my sister because she has a chance to live.
