Final Blog Post For First Trimester

The things that I have struggled with though the process of blogging this trimester. One of the thing I have struggled with blogging this trimester is when I would write my blog post I didn't catch my errors. The way I worked though and overcame this problem is that I would reread my post once out loud then silent to myself. That really helped with catching my grammar errors then I would go though and fix  my errors. One of my strengths that I have to say I know I have did well at is linking evidence and videos that is similar to my book. Also I have noticed that I'm really good at telling a lot about a story in very little.
The best blog post I have did would be the latest blog post My Sisters Keeper. This blog post was one of my strongest blog post because this has really good cites. Also it has a lot of pictures that give a visual of the book. This blog post I include the way I relate to this book. I include the trailer for the movie which is a lot like the book so if you have never read the book you can kind of get what it is about its almost like a book trailer. I include some questions I still have about the book and I would like to know what some people though about the questions I have asked about the book. I give a summary of the book and let people know a little bit more what's going on with Kate by linking a webpage to the blog that tells you about the cancer she has Leukemia.
Some goals I have for next trimester for my blog is I want to find more books that I have interest in so I would like to read more books. I also would like to write a little bit longer post.  Some areas I'm going to work towards next trimester is how many books I'm going to read I want to read more books that I did. But I have had a hard time finding books I like. For the writing part of my blog post I would like to go more into detail about some parts of my book.

My Sisters Keeper

The book My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Was truly a great book I really enjoyed it, it was one of the best books I have ever read. Its about a girl named Kate that was diagnosis Leukemia.  "Leukemia is cancer of the blood cells. It starts in the bone marrow, the soft tissue inside most bones. Bone marrow is where blood cells are made." This came fro the website WebMD there link is http://www.webmd.com/cancer/tc/leukemia-topic-overview . So if you wanted to know a little bit more about Leukemia. An understand what is going on with Kate a little bit more this will explain a lot about that cancer . Her sister Anna is doing every thing possible to help her sister Kate. There parents had Anna genetically engineer to help save her sister Kate she feels like that's one of the only reason she was on earth for so that's what's she is determined to do. But though the book she wants to become her own person. She has a brother but he was not a match for his sister Kate. They made this book into a movie it was so good and the movie is so good. Here is some pictures from the movie and the trailer.
This is the trailer for the movie My Sisters Keeper

Questions:
By Anna doing what Kate wanted did Anna do the right thing?
How would you feel with your parents had you to save your sister?
Should the ending be different?
Is the theme right vs. wrong?

How I Can Relate:
I can relate to this book because my Aunt Liz had Acute Leukemia. She had fought the battle for about 5 years. She died in her forty's that's pretty young. She did every thing she could do. They took my Aunt Bernice's  bone marrow and gave it to my Aunt Liz that is called a bone marrow transplant. She lived two years long because of having that bone marrow transplant. The Dr. suggested  Chemotherapy treatment so she did chemotherapy treatments. This all changed how she look. This is a very sad case its was hard on her. But just as hard on the family to see her going though her pain and suffering. When she died she left behind two sons, and a grandson, also very many people who loved her dearly. She was described as a loving, caring, outgoing, but to sum it up just a wonderful person.

Recommend:
I would recommend this book to someone who loves a great story. But I feel most girls would like the book better than the guys it is kind of  a chick-flick but overall I would recommend this book to just about anybody who loves a good read. This would be one of the books I would read again and again. And the movie is just as good so I would say the same about that.

Page Turner

The book Waiting by Carol Lynch Williams. Was the first book in a very long time I can honestly say I loved. This book is kind of long its 335 pages but i finished it in one day. It is a n absolute page turner. I could not put it down. The story is amazing, the author does a great job of not confusing the reader. Like some of the authors I have read,  I will get half way though the book and be so lost.  You can really picture this book  it was alomst like I was watching a movie.

NOW ON TO THE BOOK......
This book is sort of sad, but its amazing. Its about this girl who lost her brother not to long ago. She has to learn how to cope with it. She is tring to move on but she can't because her mom blames her for what happen.
A little from the book
" Shut up." Mom's voice is a wisper.
"I called for you and you said he's just thowing a tantrum, and I said 'Help me, something's wrong in there.'And by the time you came with the key,it was too late. He wasn't alive anymore."
"Shut up!"
" If you would have listened! If you would have helped."
"Shut up!"
"You needed someone to blame and you chose me."
"Shut up!"
This little section came from the book Waiting by Carol Lynch Williams on page 315.
Up to this point her mom blamed her for what happened to him. Her mom has not talked to her for months. The family has fallen apart. Her bother was very well liked at the school. She is sick of everyone asking her are you okay and saying I'm sorry for your lost. She becomes a stronger person she falles in love again. Makes new friends, and comes to relizing that it was not her fault.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story.

This link will take you to the review of this book http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12267664-waiting.
I would give this book 5 stars so if you need a book read this one.

How to live longer.

How To Live Long

I read the article How to Live Longer, Healthier and Happier by Regina Cheah . Honestly I thought it would contain difficult thing that you have to do to live longer. But it is as easy as eating healthier like vegetables, is stead of junk food like candy bars, cake, ice cream, donuts, and cookies etc .Fast like the following McDonald's, Burger King, and Taco Bell etc. By drink water and Gatorade instead of soda. By eating and drinking Heather it will help your heart, your digestive system. Also you could exercise daily to increase your life span. This will help by this will help with your heart . You could also go get regularly checkups. Never smoke there is so many thinks that this could prevent lung cancer, COPD, Emphysema etc. You could just easily get 7 to 9 hours of sleep a daily. Just by getting up at 5 to 10 minutes early daily you could eat a healthy breakfast like the following like yogurt, fruit, cereal , and toast etc. It is the most important meal of the day. It is just as easy as this. Takes not much time or not much effort. So lets take the time to do these things and you will even feel better.

New book

New Book:
I just started a new book this morning, so I'm not very far at all. The book is called Mis Match by  Lensey Namioka. To be honest, I'm only on page two. But from what I have read, I feel as if I will need to find a new book. But again, I'm not that far into the book, so it could change. I think if I get to the second chapter and I still don't like it I'm going to switch books. Because it kind of  reminds me of Girl in Translation. Don't get me wrong, I liked that book but I don't think I could read it again. And I don't want to take the time to read something really similar to what I have already read. If you want to read the summary of the book you could go to this website https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/590216.Mismatch.
I have noticed Asian-American teen fiction, which I would like to change I seem not to like these type of books. If you have read this book and think that its good please let me know, and if you didn't like please let me know so I don't wast my time.

Deadline By:Chris Crutcher
Character: Ben Wolf is the main character in this book all though I'm not very far in my book I can tell that. So far what I know is that this book they come out and tell you that he has cancer. He has an attitude that hes okay with that he feels like really there is no way to stop it. An legally the doctor can tell his parents anything because he is 18. He does not want anyone to know he wants them to treat him like they would if he didn't have cancer he does not want them to feel sorry for him at all.
He realises over time that this could be the last time for anything. So his thought is well its now or never. So he has never played football but he decides that he all ways wanted to so hes going to play it. But I think his motto is "NOW OR NEVER!!".

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/275844.Deadline
This is a goodreads blog that someone blogged about talking about the review of the book it was a good resource. It tells you a lot about the books characters.

This is a trailer of the movie  My Sisters Keeper this is kind of like my book its a girl struggling with the fact that she has canser and she does not want to be treated any way diferent than she was. Ben feels the same way but in the book no one has any clue he does not want his family to be upset like her family is in this clip.
Girl In Translation
This blog is part of my summer reading, but this gives me the chance to expand what I wanted to say.
Theme: The overall theme of this book by Jean Kwork is that this girl named Kimberly deals with all of these things that she has to deal with. There are so many differences in American culture and the Chinese culture that she is use to. The book over time shows how Kimberly starts off as this little girl who moved from China knows nothing about were she is moving to and none of there cultures. This shows her becoming a teenager and the stuff that she has to go though. The tough times that she had between bulling and financial problems. An how she adapts in to her new life and culture.

"Back in Hong Kong, I would never have dared to talk to Ma like this, to openly argue with her about such grown-up topics, but I had never  had the responsibilities there that I now did."(Kwork 66)
The quote  I have cited shows clearly how Kimberly has to adapted to the American culture.

Character:The way that my characters develops over time is that she learns how to become a responsible adult. She makes a lot of choices that would be hard for someone at her time and age to deal with. But  at the age of 17 or 18  she makes that one stupid choice that messes with her plan of the life she wanted. It shows how she deals with love heartbreaks and worries and needs. She wants to go to this privet school because she has struggled in the public schools with bulling. But she has to understand that at this time her mom and her have hardly any money. She she has to deal with that and a matures time. Kimberly is very determined person. She earns the scholarship that she need to be able to go to the privet  school that she wanted. There would be no way possible that she would every be able to go there without it because its to much money. So basically my character changes over time by being a smart, determined, responsible, and mature young adult.

I found this Video it is a little bit over 6 mins long. I chose this because this is very similar to my book because this girl is very pressured to be perfect.
